Invisible from the valley are miles of piste on the biggest skiable glacier in the Alps where skiing is possible 365 days a year. This enormous and high plateau is one of the best things about Les Deux Alpes ski resort, offering crisp snow, bright sunshine and easy runs well above the tree line.Ski holidays in Les Deux Alpes are great for beginners, who benefit from the gradual progression and wonderful conditions. The ski school is so good we even recommend novices to these ski holidays! Les Deux Alpes allows absolute beginners swift and painless progress and there are convenient nursery slopes and lifts in the village itself. However, even a beginner may find themselves at the top of the mountain by the end of the week as it is possible to ski down from the glacier to resort solely on wide, pleasant, blue runs.
Intermediates enjoy endless cruising runs and some amazing powder on not-too-steep slopes at altitude. The runs back to resort are great to challenge the intermediate skiers and beginners can either take the long looping green or a gondola.
There is plenty for advanced skiers including the fearsome offsite run to La Grave. This is one of the greatest ski runs in the world but it is only for the real expert, with a Guide. Some of the best black runs are immediately above the village providing a far from relaxing end to your day!
On the southwest side the skiing is sunny and gentle. It's good to ski here on cold mornings then move to the other side in the afternoon. The lift system is colossal and boasts every type of lift, one being an amazing tube train drilled through the summit of the mountain, opening up stunning views and unending vistas.
Snowboarding
The terrain at Les Deux Alpes is great for snowboarders and there is also an excellent terrain park, with a huge array of jumps and rails, not to mention two half-pipes. The runs are long and wide and are perfect for beginners and intermediates.Off The Slopes
Les Deux Alpes ski resort village is open, attractive and buzzes with life. It looks good despite being almost totally purpose-built and, oddly enough, the newer parts are the nicest. We highly recommend Les Deux Alpes for every kind of facility and amusement, it's a vibrant place and there are even convenient free buses circulating until evening.If you're after lively ski holidays, Les Deux Alpes is a dynamic resort the whole year round with a keen, young international following. Warm and friendly with brilliant facilities and après ski, it features loads of bars, lively pubs, restaurants and excellent shopping.
You can also book an extraordinary 5 minute helicopter ride that takes you over to Alpe d'Huez for a days skiing. The Les Deux Alpes lift pass covers a day in Alpe d'Huez.
