Resort Overview
Le Corbier ski resort was designed in the '60s by the famous modernist architect Le Corbusier as well as being named after him. The resort started life as a medium sized 3rd generation resort with a mere 75km of good skiing. But today's Le Corbier's local lift pass includes all areas such as La Toussuire and St Sorlin d'Arves which gives you 310km of piste. St Sorlin d'Arves connects by lift and piste with Le Corbier and La Toussuire as well. This makes Le Corbier ski resort the 4th largest ski area in France!
On The Slopes
Le Corbier's snow record is superb. The village sits at 1550m, the top station is at 2600m, there are plenty of snow cannons and the snow mostly faces the right way.
The main thing about any purpose-built resort is the quality of the skiing and none of these three areas disappoint. A ski holiday in Le Corbier provides exceptional learning slopes and early intermediates will enjoy plenty of easy blues on good snow.
La Toussuire is slightly more challenging, with about 50km of great skiing in an enormous bowl. The ski route back is deliberately kept easy but beginners can take the lift if they wish and there's also a skibus service.
Keen intermediates can enjoy enormous runs with dramatic views and an enjoyable sense of journey during their ski holiday. Le Corbier lets advanced skiers revel in its huge mileage: it's an ambitious, rapidly-developing ski area with lifts added every year. Ski in Le Corbier and you'll find they've recently added a fast chair direct from the foot of the resort right to the top, where there's a nursery area with wonderful snow.
Le Corbier offers a very reasonably priced lift pass covering a massive area so there's plenty of skiing to cater for all standards.
Le Corbier Snowboarding holidays
Not only can you enjoy a ski holiday in Le Corbier, but the terrain here is also great for snowboarders. There is a very laid back attitude towards snowboarders and there are two snowparks to keep you busy with massive amounts of mileage. Le Corbier snowboarding also offers good accessibility to a large number of drags in the Sybelle region for a fantastic experience.
Off The Slopes
No-one could describe Le Corbier as an eyeful of classic chocolate box charm! Le Corbusier had something else altogether in mind: the village is uncompromising and stark in an arrestingly dramatic setting, beautiful in its own way. Le Corbier ski resort is also practical and convenient. Vehicles park outside the traffic-free village which curves around the foot of the mountain so that the nursery slopes run right up to the wooden terrace.
Le Corbier is noticeably friendly. Most of the shops and cafs in the piste-front gallery have been run by the same families since the resort opened and the warm atmosphere belies the stark modernity of the resort.
