On The Slopes

Jumbo gondolas, gargantuan cable cars at altitude and new covered chairs have swallowed a lot of the infamous Mayrhofen queues. Mayrhofen has the separate Ahorn, which is almost entirely devoted to beginners. Here you'll find un-crowded, high nursery areas on good snow ideal for beginners ski holidays. Mayrhofen links with Lanersbach meaning those taking ski holidays in Mayrhofen have access to the biggest single area (140km) in the Ziller valley. Above Mayrhofen, the Penken-Horberg offers mostly intermediate skiing with tree runs, smooth cruises and some tricky stuff above the tree line all on great snow.

The terrain at Mayrhofen is also great for snowboarders and the Burton Park regularly voted one of the best in Europe is located in Horberg-Hochtal in the Penken area. The park has a variety of jumps and rails and a 150 metre half pipe as well.
